How many seasons have you been skating with the DC Rollergirls, and for which teams?

This is my first season with DCRG! I joined the league in July 2015, and I was ultimately drafted to the DC DemonCats home team and the National Maulers travel team.

How and why did you first get involved in roller derby?

I was looking for a new challenge, and while I had heard of roller derby I knew nothing of the sport itself. I saw that DCRG was hosting a boot camp (no previous experience required), so I signed up on a whim. I had never skated before but was immediately impressed by the trainers and the sense of community that roller derby provides.

What was your athletic background before learning how to play derby?

When I was in school I played both basketball and soccer. Eventually, I got involved in pro wrestling, and ultimately kickboxing and MMA. I’ve also tried parkour, which is a lot of fun.

What’s the story behind your derby name?

I am a HUGE “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” fan! Throughout the years people have always told me I remind them of the main character “Lisbeth Salander,” so it just made sense for me to have a variation of her name. Plus, I have a full sleeve dragon tattoo, so I actually am the girl with the dragon tattoo.

What’s your favorite DCRG memory?

There are so many! I’d have to say that one of my favorites was my first scrimmage with DCRG. It’s amazing to see all your hard work and dedication pay off. Another great memory was when I passed my final assessment, which made me bout eligible – the entire league was cheering.
